Visit to Arktikum
Sunday 13 June at 15–18, Arktikum
Arktikum is located near the city centre by the riverside (Pohjoisranta 4). Arktikum provides a unique insight into the way of life, culture and history of the North. It is a museum and science centre with permanent and temporary exhibitions portraying culture, history, traditions and modern life in the Arctic regions. Combine your visit with the following welcoming party. Entrance fee is included in the registration fee.
The conference registration desk will be open at the Arktikum entrance at 15-20; please register first to get your conference materials. Your conference badge will be your ticket to the exhibitions.

In-conference tour to the Arctic Circle Hiking Area and Arctic Circle
Wednesday 16 June at 13.45–19
The tour will start from the conference venue after lunch and end at the conference hotels. It will give you an opportunity to experience outdoor recreation and tourism in Rovaniemi area.
Arctic Circle Hiking Area
The Arctic Circle Hiking Area is a wilderness-like destination ideal for year-round outdoor recreation near Rovaniemi. The tour stop will be in Vaattunkiköngäs, which is a starting point for hiking trails. This tour stop is hosted by Metsähallitus who manages the area.
Sturdy walking shoes and wind and rain-proof jacket are recommended.
Santa Claus Village at the Arctic Cirle
Arctic Circle marks the northern latitude north of which the sun does not rise on the winter solstice or set on the summer solstice. This is where you will find the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi. There you can e.g. take a step across the Arctic Circle and meet in person Santa Claus himself as he lives there. In the Santa Claus Village you can also do some serious shopping. You will find a large selection of Finnish design (glass, jewellery, leather and fabric products), Christmas products as well as traditional Lappish offerings in the many shops scattered around the area. Among the many other attractions of the area there is the unique Christmas-theme permanent exhibition by Christmas Foundation.
Friday 18 June at 20, Lapland Hotel Sky Ounasvaara
Farewell dinner will take place in the panoramic restaurant of the Lapland Hotel Sky Ounasvaara. Bus transportation from the conference hotels to the dinner venue and back after dinner will be provided.
Farewell dinner has a separate participation fee of 75 €.
